Marlins Sign Cordier, Release Valdespin
The Miami Marlins signed pitcher Erik Cordier to a minor league contract. Cordier, 29, made his Major League Debut with the Giants last season. In seven games, he did not register a decision, but he had a 1.50 ERA. The Marlins also released infielder/outfielder Jordany Valdespin. Valdespin, 27, has played in 214 career games for the Mets and Marlins. He has a career batting average of .216 with 15 home runs and 52 runs batted in.
