Padres Sign Norris, Designate Thayer for Assignment
The San Diego Padres signed pitcher Bud Norris to a one-year contract. Norris, 30, has pitched in 176 career games for the Astros and Orioles. He has a career record of (55-66) with a 4.42 ERA. To make room, the Padres designated pitcher Dale Thayer for assignment. Thayer, 34, has pitched in 264 career games for the Rays, Mets, and Padres. He has a career record of (11-17) with a 3.47 ERA and nine saves.
