Rays Release Two
The Tampa Bay Rays released first baseman Allan Dykstra and infielder/outfielder Eugenio Velez. Dykstra, 28, made his Major League debut with the Rays this season. In 13 games, he hit .129 with one home run and four runs batted in. Velez, 33, has played in 259 career games for the Giants and Dodgers. He has a career batting average of .241 with eight home runs and 72 runs batted in. He has not appeared in a Major League game since the 2011 season.
