Carlos Pena to Retire

Long-time MLB first baseman Carlos Gomez is going to sign a one-day contract to retire as a member of the Tampa Bay Rays. Pena, 37, played in 1493 career games for the Rangers, Athletics, Tigers, Red Sox, Rays, Cubs, Astros, and Royals. He has a career batting average of .232 with 286 home runs and 818 runs batted in. He was selected to his first All Star Game in the 2009 season as a member of the Tampa Bay Rays. He also won a Silver Slugger Award in 2007 and a Rawlings Gold Glove Award in 2008.
