The Pittsburgh Pirates announced that infielder Jung-ho Kang will miss six to eight months after sustaining a knee injury in this afternoon's game against the Chicago Cubs. While trying to break up a double play, Cubs' infielder/outfielder Chris Coghlan slid hard into Kang. Kang sustained a fractured tibial plateau, a torn MCL, and a torn meniscus. Kang, 28, made his Major League debut with the Pirates this season. In 125 games, he has hit .287 with 15 home runs and 58 runs batted in.
