Marlins Sign Casey McGehee, Designate Jordany Valdespin for Assignment
The Miami Marlins signed infielder Casey McGehee to a one-year contract. McGehee, 32, has played in 760 career games for the Cubs, Brewers, Pirates, Yankees, Marlins, and Giants. He has a career batting average of .262 with 67 home runs and 370 runs batted in. As a separate move, the Marlins designated infielder/outfielder Jordany Valdespin for assignment. Valdespin, 27, has played in 213 career games for the Mets and Marlins. He has a career batting average of .217 with 15 home runs and 52 runs batted in.
