Pirates Sign A.J. Burnett
The Pittsburgh Pirates signed pitcher A.J. Burnett to a one-year contract worth $8.5 million. Burnett, 38 in January, will be in his second tour of duty with the Pirates. In 409 career games with the Marlins, Blue Jays, Yankees, Pirates, and Phillies, Burnett has compiled a record of (155-150) with a 4.04 ERA. Burnett also has pitched 24 complete games with 10 of them being shutouts. Burnett became a fan favorite in his two seasons as a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates. I was actually on hand to watch his first ever start as a Pirate. He pitched seven scoreless innings in a 2-0 Pirates win over the St. Louis Cardinals on April 21, 2012. It will be interesting to see what goes on now that he is back in Pittsburgh.
