Could Montero Get Traded?
The Arizona Diamondbacks announced that they are willing to trade catcher Miguel Montero. Through 906 career games, the 31-year-old Venezuelan catcher has a career batting average of .264 with 97 home runs and 448 runs batted in. Montero has also thrown out 167 attempted base stealers in 533 tries for a 31% caught stealing percentage. Montero has gone to the All Star Game in 2011 and 2014. I believe that the Pirates should make a play for him if they are unable to bring Russell Martin back. Montero is signed through the 2017 season and he would be a smart decision to take the place of Martin. Even though it would be nice to bring back Russell Martin, I would be quite content with a trade for Miguel Montero.
