Rays Sign Two to Minors Deals
The Tampa Bay Rays signed infielder Juan Francisco and outfielder Joey Butler to minor league contracts with invitations to spring training. Francisco, 27, has played in 404 career games for the Cincinnati Reds, Atlanta Braves, Milwaukee Brewers, and Toronto Blue Jays. He has a career batting average of .236 with 48 home runs and 152 runs batted in. Butler, 29 in March, has played in 14 career games for the Texas Rangers and St. Louis Cardinals. He has a career batting average of .235 with no home runs and one run batted in.
