Nationals Acquire David Carpenter

The Washington Nationals acquired pitcher David Carpenter from the New York Yankees in exchange for infielder Tony Renda. Carpenter, 29, has pitched in 210 career games for the Astros, Blue Jays, Braves, and Yankees. He has a career record of (11-11) with a 3.73 ERA and four saves. Renda, 24, has played in 54 games with Double-A Harrisburg this season. He is hitting .267 with one home run and 23 runs batted in.
