Braves Sign Nick Markakis

The Atlanta Braves signed outfielder Nick Markakis to a four-year contract in which he will make $44 million guaranteed. Markakis, 31, has played in 1365 career games with the Baltimore Orioles. He has a career batting average of .290 with 141 home runs and 658 runs batted in. He is a two-time Gold Glove recipient.

  1. This is surprising to me because I always saw Markakis as a one team player. He will be missed by the Orioles, but Braves' fans should welcome him in open arms. As a Cardinals fan, I wish we would have waited to sign Markakis than traded for Heyward. Markakis may be older, but a much better player than Heyward and the Braves and their fans will take notice.
