Tigers Sign Gorzelanny, Designate Putkonen for Assignment
The Detroit Tigers signed pitcher Tom Gorzelanny to a one-year contract worth $1 million. Gorzelanny, 32, has pitched in 259 career games for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Cubs, Washington Nationals, and Milwaukee Brewers. He has a career record of (47-51) with a 4.27 ERA and two saves. He also has one career complete-game shutout. To make room, the Tigers designated pitcher Luke Putkonen for assignment. Putkonen, 28, has pitched in 44 career games for the Tigers. He has a career record of (1-5) with a 4.66 ERA and one save.
