Dodgers Acquire Chase Utley

The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired infielder Chase Utley and cash considerations from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for infielder/outfielder Darnell Sweeney and pitcher John Richy. Utley, 36, has played in 1551 career games for the Phillies. He has a career batting average of .282 with 233 home runs and 916 runs batted in. He is a six-time All Star selection, four-time Silver Slugger Award winner, and he won the World Series in 2008. Sweeney, 24, has hit .271 with nine home runs and 49 RBI in 116 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City this season. The Phillies announced that he will head straight to the Major League roster. Richy, 23, has compiled a record of (10-5) with a 4.20 ERA in 22 games with Class-A Rancho Cucamonga this season.
