Royals Acquire Jonny Gomes
The Kansas City Royals acquired outfielder Jonny Gomes and cash considerations from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for infielder Luis Valenzuela. Gomes, 34, has played in 1190 career games for the Rays, Reds, Nationals, Athletics, Red Sox, and Braves. He has a career batting average of .242 with 162 home runs and 522 runs batted in. He won the World Series as a member of the Boston Red Sox in the 2013 season. Valenzuela, 22, has split the 2015 season with Rookie League Idaho Falls and Class-A Lexington. In 55 games. he has hit .364 with four home runs and 23 runs batted in.
