Diamondbacks Designate Gerald Laird for Assignment
The Arizona Diamondbacks designated catcher Gerald Laird for assignment. Laird, 35, has played in 799 career games for the Rangers, Tigers, Cardinals, Braves, and Diamondbacks. He has a career batting average of .243 with 38 home runs and 238 runs batted in. He won the World Series in the 2011 season as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals.
