Giants Acquire Marlon Byrd

The San Francisco Giants acquired outfielder Marlon Byrd and cash considerations from the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for pitcher Stephen Johnson. Byrd, 37, has played in 1500 career games for the Phillies, Nationals, Rangers, Cubs, Red Sox, Mets, Pirates, and Reds. He has a career batting average of .275 with 150 home run and 660 runs batted in. He was selected to his first All Star Game in the 2010 season as a member of the Chicago Cubs. Johnson, 24, has compiled a record of (3-0) with a 3.41 ERA in 44 games with Double-A Richmond this season.
