Diamondbacks Make Two Moves

The Arizona Diamondbacks designated outfielder Danny Dorn for assignment. Dorn, 31, made his Major League debut with the Diamondbacks this season. In 23 games, he has hit .167 with no home runs and three runs batted in. The Diamondbacks also released catcher Gerald Laird. Laird, 35, has played in 799 career games for the Rangers, Tigers, Cardinals, Braves, and Diamondbacks. He has a career batting average of .243  with 38 home runs and 238 runs batted in. He won the World Series as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2011 season.
