Diamondbacks Sign Gerald Laird
The Arizona Diamondbacks signed catcher Gerald Laird to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. Laird, 35, has played in 798 career games for the Texas Rangers, Detroit Tigers, St. Louis Cardinals, and Atlanta Braves. He has a career batting average of .244 with 38 home runs and 238 runs batted in. He won the World Series as a member of the Cardinals in 2011.
