Padres Sign James Shields
The San Diego Padres signed pitcher James Shields to a four-year contract worth $75 million guaranteed. The deal also includes an option for the 2018 season. Shields, 33, has pitched in 286 career games for the Tampa Bay Rays and Kansas City Royals. He has a career record of (114-90) with a 3.72 ERA. He pitched 22 career complete games and nine of them were shutouts. He was selected to his first All Star Game in 2011 as a member of the Tampa Bay Rays.
