Wil Nieves Elects Free Agency
San Diego Padres' catcher Wil Nieves has refused his outright assignment to Triple-A El Paso and has elected free agency. Nieves, 37, has played in 427 career games for the Padres, Yankees, Nationals, Brewers, Rockies, Diamondbacks, and Phillies. He has a career batting average of .241 with 10 home runs and 114 runs batted in.
