Royals Sign Two to Minors Deals
The Kansas City Royals have signed infielder Ryan Roberts and pitcher Joe Paterson to minor league contracts with invitations to spring training. Roberts, also known as "TatMan," has appeared in 518 career games with the Toronto Blue Jays, Texas Rangers, Arizona Diamondbacks, Tampa Bay Rays, and Boston Red Sox. In his career, Roberts has a batting average of .243 with 46 home runs and 169 runs batted in. Paterson, 28, has appeared in 73 games with the Arizona Diamondbacks over the course of the past four seasons. Paterson has compiled a record of (0-3) with a 6.25 ERA and one save.
