Tigers Re-Sign Martinez

The Detroit Tigers re-signed designated hitter Victor Martinez to a four-year contract. The deal will guarantee Martinez $68 million over the next four years. Martinez, 36 in December, has appeared in 1459 games with the Cleveland Indians, Boston Red Sox, and Detroit Tigers. In his career, Martinez has a batting average of .306 with 189 home runs and 927 runs batted in. He is a five-time All Star selection and a two-time Silver Slugger Award winner.

  1. I find it some what shocking to see a 36 year old player performing at an excellent level in the MLB. I wonder how many other players at his age are still performing? That much money for 4 years is a lot for a 36 year old player. He's making more money than any NHL player. It's crazy how athletes get paid in different sports.
