Celebrity Baseball Fans
Baseball is a very popular sport in multiple countries throughout the world. Many people like to spend a spring and/or summer evening at a ballpark. Even some celebrities like to spend a night at a game. Geddy Lee, the lead singer, bassist, and keyboardist for the Canadian band Rush, is frequently seen sitting behind home plate at Toronto Blue Jays games. Actor Spike Lee is a fan of the New York Yankees and was spotted tipping his cap to Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter in the "Re2pect" commercial. While there are celebrities seen in the stands, some celebrities are invited to throw out the first pitch. In 2012, the Los Angeles Dodgers invited U.S. Women's Olympic gymnasts Gabby Douglas, McKayla Maroney, and Kyla Ross to throw out the first pitch. In the same year, the Pirates invited Hal Sparks to throw out the first pitch. Sparks, who plays Zoltan in "Dude, Where's My Car?", threw out the first pitch prior to the July 25 game against his hometown Chicago Cubs. Even though Sparks was a Cubs fan, he converted to a Pirates fan, as his wife is from Pittsburgh and the Pirates use his Zoltan Z. It is fun to point out celebrities at baseball games.

  1. Yes, I find it cool and fun to see celebrates throw the first pitch at the baseball game. It makes it look like they are a normal person who does not get much attention when they are at a baseball game or at a sporting event that they do not play. I hope to see more celebrates at professional sporting events. I want the games to be even more well known to people around the world.
