Pirates Designate Two For Assignment

The Pittsburgh Pirates designated first baseman Ike Davis and catcher Ramon Cabrera for assignment. Davis, 27, split the 2014 season with the Pirates and the New York Mets. In 143 games in the 2014 season, Davis hit .233 with 11 home runs and 51 runs batted in. Cabrera, 25, split the 2014 season with the Erie SeaWolves, the Double-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, and the Altoona Curve, the Double-A affiliate of the Pirates. In 119 games, Cabrera hit .273 with six home runs and 52 runs batted in.
