Blue Jays Claim West, Designate Burns for Assignment
The Toronto Blue Jays claimed pitcher Matt West off waivers from the Texas Rangers. West, 26, made his Major League debut with the Rangers in 2014. In three games, he did not register a decision, but he had a 6.75 ERA. To make room, the Blue Jays designated pitcher Cory Burns for assignment. Burns, 27, has pitched in 27 career games for the San Diego Padres and Texas Rangers. He has a career record of (1-1) with a 4.60 ERA.
