Pirates Sign Three to Minors Deals

The Pittsburgh Pirates signed pitchers Chris Volstad and Josh Wall and catcher Wilkin Castillo to minor league contracts with invitations to spring training. Volstad, 28, has pitched in 130 career games for the Florida Marlins, Chicago Cubs, and Colorado Rockies. He has a career record of (35-51) with a 4.94 ERA. He pitched three complete games and two of them were shutouts. Wall, also 28, has pitched in 15 career games for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Angels. He has a career record of (1-1) with a 15.15 ERA. Castillo, 30, has played in 22 career games for the Cincinnati Reds. He has a career batting average of .314 with no home runs and two runs batted in.
