White Sox Sign Gordon Beckham, Designate Dayan Viciedo for Assignment
The Chicago White Sox signed infielder Gordon Beckham to a one-year contract worth $2 million. Beckham, 28, has played in 765 career games for the White Sox and Los Angeles Angels. He has a career batting average of .245 with 63 home runs and 284 runs batted in. To make room, the White Sox designated outfielder Dayan Viciedo for assignment. Viciedo, 26 in March, has played in 483 career games for the White Sox. He has a career batting average of .254 with 66 home runs and 211 runs batted in.
