Phillies Sign Billingsley, Designate Jimenez for Assignment

The Philadelphia Phillies signed pitcher Chad Billingsley to a one-year contract worth $1.5 million. Billingsley, 30, has pitched in 219 career games for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He has a career record of (81-61) with a 3.65 ERA. He pitched four complete games and two of them were shutouts. He was selected to the All Star Game in 2009. To make room, the Phillies designated pitcher Cesar Jimenez for assignment. Jimenez, also 30, has pitched in 78 career games for the Seattle Mariners and Philadelphia Phillies. He has a career record of (2-3) with a 4.32 ERA.
