Mets Acquire Kelly Johnson, Juan Uribe

The New York Mets acquired infielders Kelly Johnson and Juan Uribe from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for pitchers John Gant and Rob Whalen. Johnson, 33, has played in 1219 career games for the Braves, Diamondbacks, Blue Jays, Rays, Yankees, Red Sox, and Orioles. He has a career batting average of .251 with 140 home runs and 503 runs batted in. Uribe, 36, has played in 1706 career games for the Rockies, White Sox, Giants, Dodgers, and Braves. He has a career batting average of .257 with 186 home runs and 771 runs batted in. He won the World Series in the 2005 season as a member of the Chicago White Sox and in 2010 as a member of the San Francisco Giants. Gant, 22, has split this season with Class-A St. Lucie and Double-A Binghamton. In 17 games, he has compiled a record of (6-5) with a 3.52 ERA. Whalen, 21, has pitched in 15 games this season for Class-A St. Lucie. He has a record of (4-5) with a 3.36 ERA.
