Astros Acquire Carlos Gomez, Mike Fiers

The Houston Astros acquired outfielder Carlos Gomez and pitcher Mike Fiers from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for outfielders Brett Phillips and Domingo Santana and pitchers Adrian Houser and Josh Hader. Gomez, 29, has played in 1045 career games for the Mets, Twins, and Brewers. He has a career batting average of .260 with 99 home runs and 387 runs batted in. He is a two-time All Star selection and he won a Gold Glove Award in the 2013 season. Fiers, 30, has pitched in 71 career games for the Brewers. He has a career record of (21-28) with a 3.66 ERA. Phillips, 21, has split this season with Class-A Lancaster and Double-A Corpus Christi. In 97 games, he has hit .320 with 16 home runs and 71 runs batted in. Santana, 22, has played in 20 career games for the Astros. He has a career batting average of .179 with two home runs and eight runs batted in. Houser, 22, has split this season with Class-A Lancaster and Double-A Corpus Christi. In 19 games, he has compiled a record of (3-4) with a 5.10 ERA. Hader, 21, has pitched in 17 games with Double-A Corpus Christi this season. He has a record of (3-3) with a 3.17 ERA and one save.
