Nationals Acquire Jonathan Papelbon

The Washington Nationals acquired pitcher Jonathan Papelbon from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for pitcher Nick Pivetta. Papelbon, 34, has pitched in 630 career games for the Red Sox and Phillies. He has a career record of (37-30) with a 2.32 ERA and 342 saves. He is a six-time All Star selection and he won the World Series as a member of the Boston Red Sox in the 2007 season. Pivetta, 22, has split this season with Class-A Potomac and Double-A Harrisburg. In 18 games, he has compiled a record of (7-6) with a 3.02 ERA.
