Giants are Going to the World Series
The World Series match up has been decided. The San Francisco Giants will play against the Kansas City Royals. The Giants defeated the St. Louis Cardinals in five games. After trailing the series three games to one, the Cardinals were looking to send the series back to St. Louis. The pitching match up in Game 5 was Adam Wainwright for the Cardinals and Madison Bumgarner for the Giants. In the top of the third inning, the Cardinals got on the board first when Kolten Wong hit an RBI double to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead. In the bottom half, the Giants took a 2-1 lead courtesy of a two-run home run hit by Joe Panik. The Giants lead did not last long, as Slippery Rock alumnus Matt Adams hit a solo home run to tie the game in the top of the fourth inning. Tony Cruz also hit a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to give the Cardinals a 3-2 lead. The score remained the same until the bottom of the eighth inning when Michael Morse hit a solo home run to tie the game at 3. After the Cardinals failed to score in the top of the ninth inning, Michael Wacha came in to pitch for the Cardinals. With two runners on and one out, Travis Ishikawa, who started the 2014 season with the Pittsburgh Pirates, hit a walk-off three-run home run to send the Giants to the World Series. It will be interesting to see if the Giants can continue their streak of the winning the World Series every other year.
