Game 4 Recap
After falling to the Royals in Games 2 and 3, the Giants had something to prove. Jason Vargas took the hill for the Royals and Ryan Vogelsong got the nod for the Giants. In the bottom of the first inning, Giants outfielder Hunter Pence hit an RBI fielder's choice to give his team an early 1-0 lead. The lead did not last long, as the Royals plated four runs in the top of the third inning courtesy of an RBI single hit by Eric Hosmer, a two-run single hit by Omar Infante, and an RBI single hit by Salvador Perez. After the top half of the third inning, it was all Giants from then on out. The Giants cut the Royals' lead to 4-2 in the bottom of the third inning when Buster Posey hit an RBI single to drive in Matt Duffy. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Hunter Pence hit an RBI single to cut the deficit to 4-3. Juan Perez tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning with a sacrifice fly. The Giants plated three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning with the help of a two-run single from Pablo Sandoval and an RBI single from Brandon Belt. The Giants expanded their lead to 11-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning with the help of a throwing error by Royals pitcher Tim Collins, a two-run double from Joe Panik, and an RBI double from Hunter Pence. The score held true and the Giants evened up the series at two games apiece. Game 5 will be held tomorrow night. James Shields will look to rebound from his rough start in Game 1 and Madison Bumgarner will look to give the Giants a 3-2 series lead before sending the series back to Kansas City.
