Game 1 Recap
Kauffman Stadium was loud and there was lots of blue in the crowd. Fans were all excited to get the World Series started. Out of the 40,459 fans who attended, some Giants fans could be spotted, as well as one Miami Marlins fan who was sitting directly behind home plate. Was this guy lost? Anyway, that's besides the point. The Giants took early advantage against Royals starting pitcher James Shields. In the top of the first inning, the Giants gave themselves a 3-0 lead with the help of an RBI double by Pablo Sandoval and a two-run home run hit by Hunter Pence. More issues continued for Shields when the Giants plated two more runs in the top of the fourth inning to expand the lead to 5-0 when Michael Morse hit an RBI single and Gregor Blanco walked with bases loaded. In the top of the seventh inning, Joe Panik hit an RBI triple and Pablo Sandoval hit an RBI single to expand the lead even further to 7-0. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Salvador Perez hit a solo home run to put the Royals on the board and to prevent the shutout. This score held true and the San Francisco Giants took an early 1-0 series lead. Game 2 will be played tonight. There are many questions to be answered. Will Jake Peavy follow Madison Bumgarner with a gem of his own? Will the Giants be able to catch up to Yordano Ventura's heat. These questions will be answered tonight. Look back tomorrow for a recap of tonight's game.
