Game 2 Recap
After losing Game 1, the Royals had something to prove. The Royals sent rookie starting pitcher Yordano Ventura to the mound against Jake Peavy of the San Francisco Giants. In the top of the first inning, Giants outfielder Gregor Blanco, the first batter of the game, hit a solo home run to take a 1-0 lead. The lead did not last long, as Royals designated hitter Bobby Butler hit an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning to tie the game at 1. The Royals took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second inning when Alcides Escobar hit an RBI double. In the top of the fourth inning, Brandon Belt hit an RBI double to tie the game at 2. The score remained the same until the Royals offense put up five runs. A Bobby Butler RBI single, a Salvador Perez two-run double, and a two-run home run hit by Omar Infante gave the Royals a 7-2 lead. The score held true and the Kansas City Royals won Game 2. The series stands at a 1-1 tie. Game 3 will be played in San Francisco on Saturday night.
