Giants are One Win Away
2010, 2012, and 2014? The San Francisco Giants are one win away from making it to the World Series. The Giants beat my beloved Pittsburgh Pirates 8-0 in the National League Wild Card Game. Then, they advanced to the National League Division Series where they defeated the Washington Nationals in five games. This series win sent the Giants to the National League Championship Series against the St. Louis Cardinals. After splitting the first two games, both teams took the series into San Francisco. The Giants won Game 3 in walk off fashion, as Giants outfielder Gregor Blanco safely reached first base and shortstop Brandon Crawford scored the winning run thanks to a throwing error by Cardinals reliever Randy Choate. The Giants erased a 4-1 deficit to beat the Cardinals last night in Game 4. Game 5 of the series will be played tonight at 8:07. Madison Bumgarner will take the hill for the Giants and Adam Wainwright gets the nod for the Cardinals. It will be interesting to see if the Giants oppose the Royals in the World Series.
