Busy Already?
Earlier today, I posted about Vin Mazzaro and Chris McGuiness declaring free agency. Now, there is another Pirates transaction to report. The Pirates have acquired pitcher Preston Guilmet from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for cash considerations. Guilmet is a 27-year-old right-handed pitcher who has appeared in 14 Major League games. He made his Major League debut with the Cleveland Indians in 2013. He appeared in four games. Guilmet pitched in ten games with the Orioles this season. He compiled a record of (0-1). Even though he has limited Major League experience, Guilmet statistics show that he has some control issues. He has walked five batters and given up twelve earned runs in 15.2 innings pitched. Preston Guilmet may be another project for Ray Searage and Jim Benedict for 2015.

Update: To make room on the 40-man roster, the Pirates designated outfielder Jose Tabata for assignment.

  1. Let's see if Searage can work his magic again! Also, its sad to see Tabata go like this, thought he had so much promise when they first called him up and even when they gave him that big deal.
