Jesus Guzman to Japan
Free agent first baseman Jesus Guzman, who recently declared free agency after being outrighted by the Houston Astros, signed a one-year contract with the Hiroshima Carp of Nippon Professional Baseball. Guzman, who will make $1 million with the Carp, has appeared in 403 MLB games with the San Francisco Giants, San Diego Padres, and Houston Astros and has recorded a batting average of .247 with 25 home runs and 136 runs batted in.
