Walk-up Music
In Major League Baseball, almost all players have a song that is played when they come to bat. There are many interesting choices. Many players choose either a rock or pop song. Some players used rap. Some players come up with some wilder choices. This past season, Oakland Athletics outfielder Josh Reddick used George Michael's "Careless Whisper" as his tune of choice. Pirates catcher Tony Sanchez even used "Let it Go" from the popular Disney movie "Frozen". While these choices are interesting, I always enjoy the rock music choices. I have gone to several different stadiums and I listen to different players' walk-up songs. I went to a Chicago White Sox game in 2011, and I remember that White Sox infielder Gordon Beckham used "Your Love" by The Outfield. When I went to a Cincinnati Reds game in 2008, Adam Dunn used "Sister Christian" by Night Ranger. It is interesting to hear the players' tastes in music.
Not only do players have walk-up music, closing pitchers usually have an entrance song. Pirates closer Mark Melancon uses AC/DC's "Thunderstruck". When Yankees closer Mariano Rivera would come into a game for a save situation, they would play "Enter Sandman" by Metallica. When Trevor Hoffman would come in for a save situation for the San Diego Padres, AC/DC's "Hell's Bells" would play throughout the stadium. Walk-up music and entrance music is a great way for fans to get more excited during the games. Below are some links to videos for some entrances that I mentioned.
