Tigers Acquire Yoenis Cespedes in Four-Player Deal

The Detroit Tigers acquired outfielder Yoenis Cespedes and pitchers Alex Wilson and Gabe Speier from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for pitcher Rick Porcello. Cespedes, 29, has played in 416 career games for the Athletics and the Red Sox. He has a career batting average of .263 with 71 home runs and 262 runs batted in. He was selected to his first All Star Game in 2014. Wilson, 28, spent parts of the 2013 and 2014 seasons with the Red Sox. In 44 career games, he has compiled a record of (2-1) with a 3.38 ERA. Speier, 19, spent the 2014 season with the Gulf Coast League Red Sox. In nine games, he compiled a record of (3-0) with a 1.55 ERA. Porcello, 26 on December 27, has pitched in 184 career games for the Tigers. He has a career record of (76-63) with a 4.30 ERA. He has pitched four complete games with three of them being shutouts.
