Indians Sign Scott Downs
The Cleveland Indians signed pitcher Scott Downs to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. Downs, 39 in March, has pitched in 619 career games for the Chicago Cubs, Montreal Expos, Toronto Blue Jays, Los Angeles Angels, Atlanta Braves, Chicago White Sox, and Kansas City Royals. He has a career record of (38-40) with a 3.56 ERA and 27 saves. He pitched a complete-game shutout in the 2004 season as a member of the Expos.
