Reds Acquire Marlon Byrd

The Cincinnati Reds acquired outfielder Marlon Byrd and cash considerations from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for pitcher Ben Lively. Byrd, 37, has played in 1404 career games for the Philadelphia Phillies, Washington Nationals, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, and Pittsburgh Pirates. He has a career batting average of .278 with 131 home runs and 618 runs batted in. He was an All Star selection in 2010 as a member of the Cubs. Lively, 23 in March, split the 2014 season with Class-A Bakersfield and Double-A Pensacola. In 26 games, he compiled a record of (13-7) with a 3.04 ERA.
